We see so many use cases for astrology, helping us better understand our career purpose, our identity, and what we’re truly meant to do in life, but one of the most interesting applications is how we can use it to better understand and navigate our relationship with money.

Before we dive in, though, let’s chat through the astrology of the moment, because it all truly lines up to this conversation about money. We are in the afterglow of the Full Moon in Scorpio. Full Moons are when things come to fruition, the energy is high, and your true core needs come to the surface. The sun is shining conscious light on the entirety of the moon, which represents subconscious light. This means that the things that were buried under the shadows come into our awareness.

A Full Moon is an opposition between the Sun and Moon, and in this case, this Sun is in Taurus and the Moon is in Scorpio– and even though these two signs oppose one another, they represent two sides of the same coin. Opposite signs may have different ways of doing things, but they are connected by the same core need.

The string that connects Taurus and Scorpio is undoubtedly their need for safety & security.

For Taurus, this manifests as the prioritization of physical comforts like a cozy space and a padded bank account. Taurus is practical and is always looking at the bottom line. Taurus needs its physical possessions close at hand and always makes sure the money is flowing in at a steady pace.

For Scorpio, this manifests as emotional safety, meaning that Scorpio always needs to know how you feel in order to understand you. Scorpio requires emotional intimacy because that’s how it knows you’re really there for them. This is why Scorpio can lean toward feelings of control and jealousy– there needs to be constant emotional assurance (and maybe to read your private journal when you’re not home).

This connection between Taurus and Scorpio, aka finances and emotionality, shows us how money is… emotional.

The way you make, hold, and grow money is deeply tied to what feels safe to you, and to the patterns you’ve built- consciously or not- around security, control, and trust.

This is exactly what your birth chart maps- and here’s how to figure it out.

How to Make Money, Entirely Based on Your Birth Chart

By expert astrologer, Michelle Grodnick

There is nothing quite like the birth chart to tell you how to get to this place of truth and authenticity. The birth chart lays out a map to your core wounds, that stuff that you don’t want to look at, that you absolutely need to deal with in order to bring in more abundance.

To me, if your bank account is a tree, it seems that the roots are represented by the lessons of Scorpio: look at your shadows and transform them in order to have a strong root system that can support the abundance of the trunk, branches, leaves, and flowers (aka the money, the investments, and the material possessions).

Let’s take a look at what I call the value axis of the birth chart: the 2nd and 8th houses.

The houses are highlighted in yellow, with the house cusps highlighted in red. The dotted line that connects the house cusps is your value axis.

The 2nd house represents our finances and material possessions. The 8th house is a bit more complex, representing money received from other people, contracts, or entities (things like inheritance and taxes) in addition to representing emotional wounds that we must transform. The 8th house is also the house of mental health, therapy, and shadow work.

For educational purposes, we can associate Taurus with the 2nd house and Scorpio with the 8th house. While signs and houses are not the same, when it comes to this topic, the themes we’re talking about totally line up and are a great way to go deeper to understand how your bank account connects with your emotional focus areas.

Check the signs that are on your 2nd and 8th house cusps. These signs will always be opposing signs. Let’s go through the zodiac pairs and the core theme that connects them:

Aries - Libra Value Axis

Themes of independence and codependence. Are there people in your life that you depend on for financial freedom? How are you leaning too heavily on others and denying yourself independence? On the flip side, are there people who depend on you, making you feel like it’s all on you, and you have no help? In that situation, where can you seek support from others? As these are Cardinal signs, there is a sense of leadership when it comes to making money. What stories are stopping you from stepping into a position of leadership? Are there people-pleasing tendencies you need to let go of that can empower you to focus on what you truly find valuable, regardless of others’ opinions?

Taurus - Scorpio Value Axis

Themes of safety, security, and control. Do you find yourself becoming stagnant and complacent because you are too scared to make the jump? What are the stories you’ve been told that are quietly telling you that it’s not safe to take a risk? Know that you can’t control the future– just let that go and understand that no matter how you go about making money, it is never guaranteed. This is about self-trust. This is about knowing that even when things don’t feel like they are okay, you will always be okay. There are limiting beliefs here that are holding you back. List the reasons why you think it’s unsafe to go for it (the project, business, promotion) and turn these reasons into positive affirmations. Even if you don’t believe them right now, learning to believe in yourself is what it’s all about.

Gemini - Sagittarius Axis

Themes of learning, philosophy, and self-expression. If you’re not learning, you’re not growing. There is a sense of anxiety that creates a restless nature around your money situation. It seems to always be in flux and follows the tides of your monkey mind. There can be a tendency to overthink, over-research, and stay stuck in the information-gathering phase without actually applying what you know. The work here is to bridge knowledge with wisdom and turn wisdom into action. Do you endlessly consume content without integrating your learnings? Where are you speaking without truly understanding your own beliefs? Your money grows when your voice becomes aligned with your truth. Trust that your perspective has value, but it needs to be anchored in lived experience.

Cancer - Capricorn Axis

Themes of family and tradition. What role did money play in your childhood? Was there never enough? Is there a wound around money creating family drama? Was everything always about money, spending, and saving? The narratives that childhood created about money and security could be holding you back from financial freedom in adulthood. On the flip side, your family of origin could be your way into more money. Is there a family business you could be expanding? What about a business idea that feels tied to your family story? With Capricorn involved, we always want to make sure there are clear goals in place when it comes to financial success. Make a plan that feels realistic yet challenging and track your progress over time.

Leo - Aquarius Axis

Themes of selfishness vs selflessness. There is a need for validation that can be blocking you from financial abundance. Do you find yourself waiting for a green light from others in order to move forward? Instead of waiting for everyone to give you an invitation, how can you back yourself enough to step up without the external validation? There is a common thread here of authenticity. How can you both be authentically yourself while also contributing to the greater community? The truth is, your individuality is your contribution. There may be this core idea that you need to be of service to everyone else and leave yourself behind in order to be valuable. Investigate where that idea comes from– because when it comes to creating value, the more you allow yourself to be fully expressed, the more you naturally attract the right communities, opportunities, and financial pathways.

Virgo - Pisces Axis

How are your body + spirit disconnected? Are you living a life based on check boxes and timelines when your soul is yearning for a life with more flow and connection? Between Virgo and Pisces, emotional well-being = physical well-being. How have you denied yourself wellness that is crippling your ability to earn? Is there an obsession with comparison that is keeping you from doing what is truly right for you? There can be some core self-criticisms that you need to let go of in order to find your flow. Was there a middle school bully whose words keep ringing in your head? Did a high school teacher single you out, and now you feel like you have to walk on eggshells? Release these old emotions through art, meditation, and poetry. It’s time to be gentle with yourself.

The above should give you a baseline of the questions you need to be asking yourself in order to face the shadows that are potentially blocking you from material success. We’ll continue to explore this topic as it’s a huge priority for the Lora community. We’ve just started a TikTok series on the topic and will continue to share insights there!!

While we all wish the birth chart was a quick, easy shortcut to more money NOW, that is not what astrology is about. The birth chart is not a shortcut to the money itself, but rather to the inner work that is required in order to build long-lasting wealth filled with financial abundance. Things that are truly good do not come quickly or easily. Allow yourself the space and time to study your chart in order to unlock true financial longevity using these methods.
